In a stunning debut picture book, a Syrian American girl remembers the beauty of her first home: the City of Jasmine. A perfect pairing for Watercress, I’m From, and Nell Plants a Tree.

For a young girl, Damascus is a city of many things. It is a blossoming mosaic of mosques, fields of pomegranate trees, streets imbedded with the history of ancient civilizations. It is a house full of the fragrant aromas of her favorite foods and long summer walks taking in the wonders of her world.

Even after she moves to the west, Damascus is alive and beautiful in her memory. And no matter how far she goes, the sweet floral scent will always bring her right back home, to the City of Jasmine.

Nadine Presley’s debut is a gorgeous depiction and celebration of Syria that will touch the hearts of all readers.
