When each family at the diverse Juniper Court apartment complex needs something to light up the dark of winter, the stumpy, lumpy candle provides a glow brighter than the fanciest taper, revealing the true spirit of each holiday it illuminates

"What do you do when your celebration needs a candle, but yours are all gone? You ask your neighbors if they have one to spare. And then, when the next neighbor needs a candle, you pass it on. A multicultural assortment of neighbors passes a squat, lumpy candle from apartment to apartment allowing for a host of winter holidays, celebrations, and family reunions to go on. A story about a caring apartment complex that glows brightly with the warmth of community and sharing."
-Erica Dean Glenn, Children's Librarian
Winter Candle is an inspiring winter story about one candle that spreads light and hope through five different families of different faiths or origins in a single apartment building. The candle is humble and stubby, not special looking at all, but because it is shared, as a gift in need, it burns brightly for all the families at Juniper Court. - The Midwest Book Review
In this special picture book the message of sharing and togetherness burns as brightly through the narrative as the candle in the story does. Children will see how people of different backgrounds help one another out and share what they have.
