DJuana Okotete has a passion for education and a talent for inspiring people. She started her professional career as an educator, where she positively impacted the lives of students, parents, and co-educators. During her ten years of teaching in inner-city schools, she created an exciting and challenging environment that encouraged growth and exploration. DJuana then transitioned to Chick-fil-A, where she served as a Talent and Marketing Director, using her educational background to develop training programs that managed and retained talent.
DJuana is a children’s book author, illustrator, and educational consultant today. She continues to inspire and educate young minds. As someone who advocates for anything to help close the reading gap in the African American community, DJuana writes and illustrates children’s books reflecting her African American cultural experience. The intentionally faceless illustrations encourage every reader to see themselves in her stories. DJuana's illustrations are inspired by the infamous artist Ms. Annie Lee of Chicago, Illinois. DJuana's books, like "Destined For Greatness" and “The Bead Manager,” are exceptional additions to every child’s library.
